Nearly every place I read about setting your wii up to run backups you need to downgrade your firmware if your using 3.4 but i came across someone saying this was a myth and that you can partially downgrade and get something like backup loader to work on a 3.4u firmwear. Is this true? and if so what would you need?

i have homebrew channel
3.4u firmwear
backup loader

For some reason a great many people (including even some people here) insist on saying that you need to downgrade to use the backup launcher. But that's simply not true.

If you read this guide you see that it has a link to a downgrading thread if you're on firmware 3.4, but read closely because it also says that you only need to follow the first 3 steps of the downgrade guide.

I told someone on here just a few hours ago: If you really want to downgrade then you can, but by following the first part of the downgrade guide to unlock the downgrader on a 3.4 wii you'll also have unlocked everything required to play backups. So the actual downgrade process is just an extra step that you dont need and is somewhat risky to boot.
