I'm not sure if I have this thread in the right spot, if not just tell me please.
My husband had his XBox 360 modded to read backups games due to the fact we have a toddler that likes to destroy CD's. He use to have a friend make backups of his game, but he moved. We have just recently started doing it ourselves, but there's a problem. All the backups we make work at first, but then the 360 no longer reads there-after. We have looked everywhere to figure out the problem, but can't come up with any solution that works. We've cleaned the XBox, got a laser lens cleaner, got different discs, burn at different speeds, etc... Any suggestions would help at this point, even the weird ones.
We went thru five different types of DL Disc. The last one we tried was the 2.4x DVD+R DL Verbatim discs. We use a Mac (no it's not the Mac's fault) & a Sony CD/DVD/DVD-DL burner. The old discs that were burned by his friend are 2.4x DVD+R DL HP Discs, I have no idea what burner he used with his PC. As mentioned before, any help would be nice.
Thank You
Rhi

yes verify the iso.
but are you making backups from actual 360 games or other backups? i was told only specific drives can make backups of the 360 originals. i am fairly new to this my self and am guessing that is why 1.60 firmware is being released
again sorry im a newcomer you may have to wait for a old timer

What is that? (ABGX 360 GUI)
I was reading somewhere that you have to update the firmware flash, could that maybe be the problem? I'm not really good with these things so I'm not real sure on what I'm doing. The person that modded his Xbox 360 was his friend and the 360 hasn't had the firmware update since then. (Modded in 2007)

its a program that verifies the ISO, A replacement for DVDMulleter
the new firmware update is for newer games that have been coming out noticeably two in particular (H.A.W.x and mlb 09) because it includes the new nxe update in its video partition known as the wave 3, soon all games will come with this and you will need to update if you plan on backing up/downloading new games from now on.

Does the program work on a Mac?
Well the newer games we burned (gow2, onechanbara) worked completely fine until yesterday. Also all the old burned games (cod4, dmc4) still work fine & have no problems with them.
I'm really new to this stuff, so there's alot of stuff I don't understand so if I missed something with what you were saying, sorry in advance.

Their Is a Tutorial Their, You can get the program from Xbins
I believe But am not certain There is a Mac Version Too, Can anyone verify?
By New Games I mean Coming out from this point forward, Those games you listed aren't new now, But Say For Example In April The Godfather II comes out and has the new video partition then you will need to update to play it, but that's neither here nor there honestly you should focus on 1 problem at a time, Which Is your 360 Wont read backups after the 1st time.

Where would I get a mac version of abgx360?
Or is there another program like that would work for the mac?
I'm not understanding how the games worked at first, but now don't.

I do not know why it would do that in specifics but I can tell you the best way of determining why it is doing that is trouble shooting,
I would assume you get the program from XBINS, there irc channel should allow you to download it, use MIRCor look for it here using the search.
make a new topic if you need asking for the mac version.
I would also check if your drive is able to sucessfully make backups,
1.has this only happened recently? only on your drive? have the ones you made ever work more then once? did your friends backups work?
2.what program do you use to backup your originals?
3.what program do you use to burn the disc?
4. what speed do you burn at?
5. what is the name of your drive? model? can it burn DVD+ROMS? USE DVD INFO PRO to figure that one out, its available everywhere nd you can find it for free if you search google, for example search, dvd info pro megaupload or rapidshare etc, etc.
what discs do you use? i use dvd+r DL Verbatims, these are ideal.
i burn at 2.4x again this is ideal,

I use a Sony DVD RW DRU-840A, the games that were burned with it worked more than once. I thought they all stopped working completely, but my husband put in a couple today & they now work, tho tomorrow I'm sure they won't. I use to use iburn, but I have recently found out it wasn't a good program to use so now I use x360 ISO hacker or OSx360. Either way they both aren't really good programs, but there isn't much out there for my mac to use b/c it's not an intel based mac. I used memorex at first, but now I'm using 2.4x DVD+R DL Verbatim discs. The ones that were burned by his friend were HP. They still work perfectly fine. I burn the discs at 2.4x. I tried to look for dvdinfopro, but I once again ran into the trouble of not finding a version I could get to work on my mac. This seem to be a constant problem with programs are mainly .exe files and only intel-based macs can run boot so I'm out of luck. Hopefully I answered everything.

I can tell from experience your problem is most likely laser based, your laser is wearing out. i am not 100% about this but i have seen this problem on this board and it all came out down to the laser being worn out.
especially if they worked fine in the past and now they work only sometimes,
be sure, when they dont work eject them the try again do it a few times. then if it works the burn and the disks are good but your laser is not. i would, i assume your problem came about because you were using inferior discs for so long. Sony/HP and even memorex are all inferior for the 360 compared to verbatims thats why they cost more. how do originals play? well?
i would still dl/ the program above and try it out maybe im worng wouldnt be the 1st time nawm.

The original games work perfectly fine. Every blue moon it will get an error that says the disc isn't a 360 disc, but we just put it back in & it plays fine. The 360 we own is one of the first sets of 360 out on the market. It's pretty old & it also survived a RROD. So it could possibly be the 360.
Also as for that program... I don't have an intel-based mac & it only works if I have one. I have a PPC mac. Which as far as I search really has no programs that could help me here. We tested the discs again today & a few worked others didn't. So I'm guessing it may in fact be the 360.

its your laser more than likely. the easiest way to fix it is to buy a new dvd drive from ebay, get the same model you already have, and take out the circuit boards inside the drive and put the one from your current drive in the new drive. that way you have a new laser with your old firmware flash, no need to flash firmwares or anything.
