So far I have been using Hotswap and ABGX360 but I recently bought a Samsung drive off eBay (haven't received it yet) and I am new to using XBC and Schtrom, so I was wondering what settings do I use for both.
All programs are the recent releases
The only thing I did in Schtrom, was I went under "Misc --> Options" and changed Drive type: to my Kreon drive model and Disc type: to Xbox360. Are these settings acceptable or should I just reinstall and use it as is?
With XBC I was wondering if I needed to click the "Unlock Drive" before ripping to get it to rip properly?
For the read speed, is it ok for me to set it to 16x or would a slower speed be more suitable? (Like if I set it too high will I get a bad rip? Don't want to waste DVD+R DL)
Finally for upgrading ixtreme firmware, I currently flashed my lite-on drive's firmware to 1.5 but lost my keys.
So I was wondering, if new games come out using the new 3rd wave forcing you to upgrade to use ixtreme 1.6 to be able to play them, would I need to flash back to my original firmware then to ixtreme 1.6?
I haven't used Schtrom, but I've used XBC, and I never messed with the settings. Just popped in a game, and clicked Dump (or whatever it is now; haven't used XBC in a long time).
For your Firmware, you don't need to flash back to the original and then to 1.6. They have detailed instructions on how to do everything with the Lite-On. Basically, you can get the key through SATA (if it's already got iXtreme installed), then just follow the directions.
I just flashed my buddy's Lite-On from 1.5 to 1.51, and it wasn't hard at all!
