possible firmware issues?

hi guys

i had my xbox flashed about 6 months ago now it was an arcade with the drive removed and replaced onto it, however recently all the new games i am buying keep coming up with the disc is unreadable error messsage games like res 5 i have had working but now wont work on my xbox my question is would it be worth my while having my xbox reflashed with new firmware as the games seem to work fine on other units. i am unaware of the firmware version or drive as it was done by a third party but any feedback would be appreciated

Sounds like a laser issue not a firmware issue.

Try adjusting the pot to the laser if that doesn't work then you might need a new drive.

just makes me wonder because all my older games work fine just the newer ones like res 5, mega drive classics etc
how would you go about fixing the laser

are these orignals or backups?

If they are backups what media are you using?

im not sure as i get them from a third party they are backups but they work on all other xboxes except mine so was just a general idea as im keen to get on these new games

Well it could be a media issue. If the game your having issues with is RE5 then you should have no problem playing it at all. It doesn't have the new wave3 in it like Tom Clancy's HAWX and MLB 2K9 so you should be good to go.

You should however update to the newest iXtreme firmware which is 1.51 so newer games like Tom Clancy's HAWX and MLB 2K9 can boot.

So it sounds like you have a few issues...

1) RE5 should boot so I would guess this is a media or bad backup issue. Since it boots on other Xbox 360 systems a bad backup tends to be ruled out. So that leaves a media issue. Your Xbox 360 might not like the media that was used. Try re-burning it to different media.

2) You should update to latest iXtreme firmware if you want to play newer games that have wave3.
