hey guys, i read the user guide for jf and im a bit confused reading the steps to re-flash a hitachi. the guide says "Again, JungleFlasher will depend on the JungleFlasher Firmware Pack being in the same directory as JungleFlasher.exe" i see a folder that says "firmware" and inside it it says "place firmware here!" is this where i put the firmware from the 1.51 fw pack or my own original fw? if this is where it goes, can i copy and paste ALL the unrard fw's since i see an original 59 and an original 59b(not sure which i want) sorry if this has been answered but its my first time using jungleflash. thanks for any info.

in the same directory as JF creat a folder called Backups or originals. Put the Stock firmware here. The IX1.51 firmware you download put in the firmware folder. If you have ?'s i'm on msn messenger Belenos_djinn@hotmail.com

damn now im even more confused lol. so your saying put my original fw in a seperate folder in the same place as the junglflasher.exe? my original is called was.bin- do i need to rename it orig59.bin? then after that, copy the 1.51 fw into the folder that says "place fw here"
since theres a 59 and a 59b in there, can i just copy all the hitachi fw's into the folder and the flasher will know which one to use? thanks again for your help- i feel like a newb today!

just put all the hitachi firmwares in the firmware folder and for the originals look in the firmware folder there is a file called put firmware here it has to be named one of the names in that file. I was just suggesting to also make another folder to backup your original firmwares. But that part is up to you.

ok i see what your sayin but i cant seem to even get into mode b. i eject the drive, unplug power, plug power back in. hold trey open till center light on flashes. my drive shows up in "my computer" and in the drive section of jf, but on the left it says no drive detected. i try to click on "send mode b" but nothing happens, the program just freezes. any thoughts?

If it takes 2 ejects to open, it's in modeB. Jungleflasher didn't restore a 59DJ drive I just updated, I had to resort to restore.bat in the ixtreme 1.4 package.
After it restored, jungleflasher dumped and flashed properly with the WinAPI but since it's a 59 I had to use the Ram Upload, not classic.
Note this is with a VIA 6421 card.

damn that sucks because i dont remember the old way to get into mode b offhand=i do have my slax cd though. i tried and it only takes one eject to work so its not in mode b. im super confused as to why i can see it under drives but not in vendor.

I can confirm this works with a VIA 6421.

Power on hitachi and eject tray
power off hitachi with tray open
Open jungle flasher
Go to the Hitachi tab
Hit send modeB
power on hitachi drive.

There's mode B
You may have to go into the device manager and scan for hardware changes until you see your drive and it gives you a letter.

Proceed to restore.bat

You don't need slax anymore with a via 6421. If using others, then you need to turn the hitachi drive on while the pc is booting (bios) but before it boots from the slax cd.
Let the pc boot from the cd-rom with the slax cd and it'll put it in modeB (if that particular chipset is supported in slax)

when i put mine i mode-b i didn't have dive open just hit send mode-b and turned it on but this was with a stock drive. Oh and using Port i/o your drive most likely will not show up in windows. mine didn't but flashed fine. all u need is for your drive to show up under port properties.

thanks all-i got it done in the middle of the night and forgot to post. i just went ahead with the flash back to stock and then flash of 1.51 even though no drive was detected in the vendor box and it worked fine. too bad there was no mention of this in the pdf so im guessing jungleflasher wasnt extensively tested, but hey, whats 20 hours of your saturday wasted to have the new fw lol.
