hey im new here and i already have cfw on popsloader from 3.00-3.72 and i learned that you can play gba games with an emulator so i wanted to play pokemon but i dont have a clue how to get started. could i please get sum help it would be much appriciated
if you are on the latest custom firmware 5.00 m33-6 or feel like upgrading you can grab my popsloader pack that has all the firmwares included in my signature
as for gba emulator you can search google or www.pspupdates.com for it and try and find the rom in the usual places or if you have high speed internet you could download all the main emulators and every usa released game from here http://ifile.it/_6kfbr37
For a specific emulator to actually play the games with, i would go with the GPSP. It is pretty simple to use, and you just stick your roms into the rom folder...bam, you're done and ready to play pokemon...
yea there aren't really any alternatives that compare and a japanese developer has been making code improvements to the emulator as well to keep it alive so its the same emulator i use in my pack.
Also, when you are playing the games, be EXTREMELY careful with the savestates. A) If you aren't careful and don't pay attention (like I did), you'll find that your memory goes bye-bye really quickly. If you have a 32 Gb, that may not apply as much to you, but 4 or smaller, BIG problem. B) When you go to save in the save states, be very careful when you are going to hit the button, because, if you are being careless, or if you're an insomniac at 2 am (like me), you'll find yourself repeatedly saving over the file you were trying to load (very frustrating) or loading the files that you were trying to save over (excruciating).

I was playing Golden Sun, and I was going to load a file because the game froze, I accidentally saved over the normal state and my backup state once I realized what I was doing, I loaded up the normal in game save (me forgetting to update it; it was over 3 hours old). In short, all was lost. I got REALLY upset to say the least, I threw down my PSP in fury, it reset, and I haven't even thought about playing Golden Sun ever since...
Moral: BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR SAVE STATES!!
no, i was just mentioning popsloader and my emulator pack both with everything you need included and as for GPSP it is the best emulator now supported by a third party anonymous japanese programmer and darman92 was just mentioning his trouble with accidentally overwriting his gamesave due to lack of paying attention to the options he was given, slight, unfortunate but common mistake.
and just to be clear gamesaves are really really small but that doesn;t make them any less important so its best to keep backups or your memory stick just in case you happen to overwrite anything.

If left unchecked, yes, your savestates will take up a lot of memory, especially if you use multiple in multiple games...because if you don't have enough memory, your psp won't really tell you, the file you tried to save will be corrupted and will either not save, or crash...I forget which happens, it's been awhile (lesson learned) but it can and will happen if you aren't careful.
