My lite on is already flashed with 1.5 and I want to upgrade it to 1.51. Unfortunatly I dont have the keys. People have been telling me that I can extract the keys using sata without having to use a probe/ spear. Is this true if so how do i go about doing it?

Yes it is true! Get the latest JungleFlasher, and it will have a link inside the GUI for the User Guide, on how to do it all!

Hey,
I'm in the same situation as jesse3040 but my question is would I be able to upgrade with jungleflasher without having to buy the infamous sata VIA card / connectivity kit etc ? just by erasing and writing the firmware ?

Well you don't need to grab the key the same way as before. It all does it through SATA. So if you flashed your drive with some other SATA, then it should work the same with that SATA you used. You only need the connectivity kit if you don't have another way of powering the drive.

I paid someone to flash it with ixtreme 1.5, 2 weeks ago, so I don't feel like paying 50$ dollars again lol..I think with the proper info I could upgrade it myself.. I have an Intel ICH 8 ATA chipset. I dont know if it will detect lite-on drives or do I really need to buy that VIA 6421 card? I would power it with the 360..
Thanx for your time

I just finshed flashing my lite-on from 1.5 to 1.51 with a intel chipset no via card & no problems, I used jf & followed the guide,(after you hit erase hit write with in 3 seconds,I had to do that in my case) hope this helps.

Also I unpluged all of my drives except the c/drive for flashing.
connected xbox drive to sata port 2.

I tested the freezing problem by having my computer turned on with the side off & pulling the power plug on my burner then, reconnecting the power plug,
done the same with my second & third hard drives.

If you get no freezing now you should not get it when you disconnect the 360 drive.

Nice guide! So to clarify if you currently have FW1.5 on a Liteon then there is no need for the homemade/spear/connectivity kit (just use the 360 as a power source) but if it is a first time flash then the spear is needed to dump the dummy.bin ect. Is this correct? I guess I have some upgrading to do.

to open your 360

The new firmware
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/11/753649
Guide is included in JF

If using the 360 to power the drive you have to have the av leads pluged into the back of the 360 otherwise the power will cut off after 5 minutes.
I found out the hard way
