Should work although not tested it myself, why do you not just install windows media player 11 on your laptop?

TVersity is a pain in the ass. I tried using it last night and hated it.
Your defo right there. My main beef with it is that when its converting a video on the fly, it takes up my PC's processing power and slows down my newsgroup unpacking and repairing.

But can WMC even due this?
No but it will play xvid, divx etc with no problems. With TVersity, even playing those hogs up your PC resource.
I suppose it all depends on what type of Video file the OP wants to play

I have no issues playing Xvid because they don't need to be transcoded so very little resources should be used.
Now if I play a video that needs to be transcoded before it is sent to the 360 then yes it does take a little more resources to do that. In this case I usually convert the video before hand so it doesn't need to be transcoded on the fly.
But anything WMC can stream to the 360 Tversity should be able to do it to without transcoding it first.
