Sorry it's long winded, but this problem is really annoying me and it's eating through my disks. Anything too technical and l'm at a bit of a loss!
I use Philipsdvd+rw disks with convertxtodvd and if l get tired of one, l can erase it and use it again. Well that's the theory!
I then use Active@cd/dvd rw eraser on the disks.
Once "erased", l use it again with convertx and although it says it has finalised, there are no files on the disk. If l eject the disk and put it back in, the green light just keeps flashing (even after 1/2hr in some cases).
On the few times when the light stops flashing, l have found and tried a prog. called dvdinfopro. It too also erases the disk and when reinserted comes back immediately to tell me it's empty.
So, l don't know where l stand at the moment?
Is convertx the problem. Is active eraser the problem (as dvdinfopro seems to work ok). Could ALL the disks be duff (l can understand the odd one or two, but they all seem to be having this problem).
Any ideas or pointers as to what to do?
Many thanks
If you're using ConvertXtoDVD 3, you may not need to erase the disc first.. Under the Settings for "Burning", the last option is "Erase re-writable disc without warning".. If you check that, the program might just erase and write over automatically..
Have never used RW discs with ConvertXtoDVD 3 so just a thought, but you might want to try it.
You could also post a question over at VSO's ConvertXtoDVD forum
Hi dialysis1 and Joleca. Sorry, not ignoring you.
Right, used dvdinfopro to erase disk and tried a new burn. No files put on there, but convertx spewed out lots of write errors in its log. Tried a brand new disk and this worked ok, so it's not convertx!
Dialysis1 - Had a look at imgburn and this looks great, gives a lot more info. Got rid of dvdinfopro and formatted the disk with imgburn. Will try another write to this disk.
Joleca - Am using version 2 of convertx. I just don't get on with version 3 when it writes all those chapters and pictures! Takes a lot longer to burn than v2.
Will see what happens with another burn, and will keep in touch.
Regards
Wow!!!
Using Imgburn to clean the disc worked, and l burnt something else to that disc and that worked too!
Thank you both very much for your time in answering. Will keep fingers crossed and hope that the problem is now solved.
