Howdy.

Ive been looking to reflash my 360 with Ixtreme 1.51, but my orig.bin file was lost when my computer was infected with a virus.

To my understanding, i cant upgrade my firmware unless i reinstall orig.bin on the drive.

I have read that you can make a custom orig.bin that will work temporarily as long as i still have the key (which i assume is located on the back of my 360's dvd drive).

Can anyone fill me in on the details on how i go about doing this?

Thanks

Just extract the key from your dvd drive as you did the first time you flashed it. Have a read of this great tutorial http://www.360mods.net/JungleFlasher/JungleFlasher.pdf

is your drive a hitachi? if not you may not need to restore to original. even if you do then jf can help restore. just READ the drive first then you can create your own original with firmtool if necessary. but regardless, just read to source first, note your keys, erase, then flash (if not hitachi).

My drive is a Samsung ms-28. If i do it with Jungle Flasher then do i not need to restore? Cause ive been flashing with ms dos the entire time.

Thanks for the replies so far

The only drive that requires a restore is Hitachi. All others can simply be overwritten. Just read the drive to get the key and then patch it to the IX1.51

Same prob w/me. My drive is an ms-28 and flashed with 1.4 a year ago. I've lost my orig.bin too. Is it true that the drive can just be re-flashed with JF to 1.51? my first time at flashing. had a friend do the flashing 1st time.

restore is only required for hitachi. The drive key is contained with in your firmware whether it is stock or IX that's the only way is will work in you xbox. JF make the process very easy and if setup properly will auto load the correct firmware and inject the key and everything for you to just write back to drive.
