I just got a new falcon 360. I heard that these are pretty reliable versions. For they are cooler and less prone to RROD.
But I have a major problem that I can't simply ignore. It's SUPER loud. I looked around on the forums here and I think It might be like that because I have a 12v fan mod.
Well I cracked open my 360 to find out. Here's how it looks:
What I want to know is, is there a way for me to convert the fans down to a normal voltage?? Like maybe cutting a wire or something???
thats what i was gonna say take out that extra dvd cable and see what happens. that might work but make sure the fans are still working at some level. im not sure what affect those extra wires may have in the setup if any now that they are disconnected. did you buy the system this way?
its perfectly safe to run from the dvd drive power cable. you had the 12v fan mod, and I have it on mine, but mine wasnt done like that. mine was done by soldering the power wires to the motherboard. the sound is worth getting used to if you notice how much cooler your system runs. mine never gets hot at all.
I heard that when using the DVD cable method it is basically stealing power from the dvd drive which isnt good and possibly detectable by MS..Like i said i heard this, not saying it is fact. just thought it was worth mentioning if it is true
as far as detectable my microsoft, that may be true, but it wont hurt the drive physically. i was too lazy to try and splice into anything, I just soldered straight to my motherboard lol.
Oh well solder to motherboard is different i think. if you do it where the power cable comes into the mobo at cause from that point you are getting it from the "source" and not "robbing" any devices further down the line.
