1)If I'm using a HDD, the method for softmodding my PS2 is the same as if I wasn't using one, right?
2)Do I need to ftp my PS2 to my computer if I want to store PS2 backups on my HDD? Or is there a less expensive way? A router is kinda expensive, and I'd rather avoid buying one if possible.
3)Is it possible to use the ethernet cable that connects my computer to my modem to connect my computer to my HDD?
4)Does it matter what version of AR Max/Gameshark/Codebreaker I use as long as it supports transferring saves through flash drive? Also, if I have the HDD can I just ftp the exploit to my HDD?
Thanks in advance for any help, I'm really new at this and I don't want to waste a ton of money on something that isn't going to work.
Ok first let me apologise if this seems a bit of a mess i am currently using my phone to do this :)
1) Yes it is exactly the same
2) No you dont have to FTP, you can install your HDD into your pc either on an IDE cable or put it into an external USB enclosure and use WinHiip to transfer your ISOs over
3) You dont need an ethernet cable to connect your PS2 to your pc unless you are planning to use FTP to transfer files
4) Not sure if it matters what versions you use although i have read that Codebreaker 8.1 and above work fine (i used AR Max 3.6 to do my exploit and then used that exploit to install FMCB. But maybe someone else can clear this one up for you.
Hope this helps
Which way would be easier to connect my HDD to my PS2? I have the money to buy what I need, so I'll spend a little more to do it the easier way. And when you say USB enclosure, do you mean just connect it to any USB drive, or do I connect it to some adapter which is connected to a USB drive? One other question, is connecting a Maxtor drive much harder than connecting a PS2 HDD to my PS2? The PS2 HDD method seems so easy, but I have no experience with connecting hard drives to computers, and I'm assuming it would be hard to connect one to a PS2 as well.
Then you need the ps2 network adapter to fit your hdd to your ps2. And you could use an external usb enclosure to connect your hdd to your pc if you arent comfortable with the insides of a pc. Hope this helps
