I have a PSP 1001 old fat version with 3.80 M33-5 custom firmware.

Is it worth the trouble to upgrade to the newest firmware and what is the newest custom firmware worth using. By your personal preference.

I have a TOOL battery (red plastic)

btw-
sorry for the stupid question but searching the net has lead me in circles.

-thanks in advance.

Well there's no reason to update other than compatibility with newer games that are coming out so if your psp works and your not planning on buying any new games like patapon 2 then just stay were your at there's no reason to update.

But if you do plan on updating use custom firmware not official firmware unless you don't wanna play iso/cso anymore.

I have 3.80 M33-5 and I have no problems playing all the newest games. I believe that there is a feature that automatically spoofs whatever firmware that is needed to play the games. So if you want new features, like the internet radio then upgrade, otherwise, I dont see a reason why to do it.

Yeah it seems that way now I thought you still had to update but apparently many games are compatible with older custom firmwares now im still not sure about patapon 2 though because it needs either 4.00 or 5.00 depending on the region.

It seems to do it by itself with no configuration needed.
