Hello. I'm looking for some help, as I can't find an answer anywhere.
I have a soft modded NTSC console purchased in the USA. I can run backup NTSC games no problem, but any backup PAL games only show up in black and white. If I hook the Wii up to my LCD TV, they will show up in color but my LCD TV isn't for gaming at all, it's horribly laggy and just won't work. I'm trying to find a way to get PAL games to display in color on my 20 inch SDTV.
I'm posting here as a last resort. I have tried everything suggested so far to no avail. Here are the steps I've taken :
1) Bought a set of component cables; still black and white (I was told to change my TV to 480p once the component were hooked up and this would fix it, but I don't have that option even with component cables hooked up, the option is still greyed out)
2) Patched the ISO's with 4 or 5 different apps (region frii and similar apps). I always do PAL --> NTSC-U; still black and white
3) Tried the "Force NTSC" option in both backuploader and Gecko OS (Backup loader just says Disc Error, and tells me to reboot my Wii, Gecko OS won't even read the disc. I think this is because it only reads backups, but I'm new to all of this so I'm not sure)
4) Bought an RF modulator, ran the video from the wii to it via composite cable, then to my TV via coax cable; still black and wh ite
5) Ran the video composite to my DVD player, composite out from there to my TV; still black and white
6) I even bought a new 20 inch SDTV as I was told the newer the TV, the better chances it would display a PAL signal correctly; still black and white
I've tried a few other things as well, though I can't remember them at the moment. I'm looking for any suggestions at all, there has to be a way to fix this somehow. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply. I understand that PAL and NTSC are different technologies, but I also know there is a solution out there that will get this to work with my setup, without needing an NTSCISO or a new TV. Force NTSC never works in either Gecko OS or backup loader for me, so if that's what you were referring to, unfortunately it doesn't help me. Thanks again for the reply, though.
if you still want to play both standard. Look for TV that has a MULTI SYSTEM(means support both NTSC and PAL/SECAM),but again to be safe play only games with you own Wii region (NTSC).
