I recently bought an xbox 360, and I did not have the required components to flash the firmware. Recently took it to a friend, and he extracted the key, patched it, and then he flashed my lite on drive.
My question is as follows:
If my drive is already flashed with the latest firmware. If another firmware comes out, will I be able to just flash it by connecting my lite on straight to my pc? Or will I just have to erase the firmware key, and repatch the original key with the updated firmware(future)?
Would appreciate if someone is able to answer me this question. I originally thought that you only needed to acquire the connectivity kits to just dump the original firmware.
you're correct. As long as it is already flashed with ixtreme, you will be able to extract the key via SATA, thus eliminating the need for a key reader.
If your LiteOn drive already has ixtreme firmware on it (such as v1.5), then all you need is a PC with a Sata connection and JungleFlasher to upgrade it to 1.51 (and presumably all future versions as well).
You don't even need to have backups of your keys from the previous firmware flash, as it is already stored in your drive and can be retrieved via Sata/JungleFlasher.
And yes, you will need to erase the old firmware from the drive before you write to it with the new one that has your key on it.
Make sure you read the JungleFlasher.pdf thoroughly before you begin.
