Hello all, I've looked for assistance on this on, having read around I understand this is a known issue but I just need some clarification on exactly what to do next.
Basically followed a tutorial for Liteon flash over SATA
everything was going fine, extracting key etc, and moved on the erasing the Liteon firmware.
A prompt appeared instructing to power off and on the drive in quick succession during the countdown as the dots appeared in the progress window. Unfortunately it wasn't clear at which point during those dots appear when to power on and off, and before I knew it, the countdown was up and a message said the intro failed. XP then became very unstable...
The drive doesn't respond to open/close on the connectivity kit presumably no firmware to understand) and it prevents windows from booting if connected
Doh! So what I understand is that I haven't bricked it (hopefully!, pls advise), just erased all firmware from it and I need to complete the rest of the procedure in DOS. Could someone advise on exactly what versions of software I need on my USB/floppy disc and what I need to do to complete the procedure. I have the key files required extracted from the drive before it became unresponsive
have you tried iprep? i think it uses dosflash and i tried my lite-on with it but could not get the key dumped because i didn't know there was no soft mod available. but since you have the key already, you could try it. anybody know when a soft mod will come to pass for the lite-on? you would think somebody wants to tackle that beast!
