I own the VHS "Last of the Dogmen," in which Wilford Brimley narrated major parts giving background info which gave the file great insight. Without the narration, the movie looses so much of the background that explains so much of the past and sets the stage of the entire movie at important parts of the movie, in and out at critical points through the entire movie.

I have dual-core and quad-core computers, both with quality with TV capture cards, plenty of HD space, plenty of horsepower, using the Vista capture software, however am open to change.

I know I'm loosing quality on the VHS, as it's about 9-10 years old now. That's the reason I'm getting frantic to put it on DVD.

My problem: after capturing, I can't find Wilford Brimley's narration anywhere? It is not in the movie. I don't need the subtitles, however if they are there, I'd like to get them as well. I don't even know what extension file to look for in the narration (- possible an MP3?), however I see nothing out of the ordinary that would suggest a narration file.

Does anyone know if this narration file is found inside another file, and if so, how do I activate it?

Many "Thanks" to you kind folks 'round these parts. I've learned a lot from y'all, but never seen this particular problem addresses.

Thanks again.

Cheers
The Texan

When playing the tape on TV, you can find out if the narration is on the right or left or both stereo channels by unplugging and re-inserting the R/L audio plugs.
If the narration audio is always heard, then it's on both channels and should be present on the captured audio.

Hi Attar,

I only have a single cable running from my VCR/DVD unit to my TV, with no external speakers.

The only place I see single cables from a VCR to a TV is the UK SCART cable - I'm only familiar with the typical North American setup of separate video and audio.

I have RG-6 in to my VHS/DVD, then out to my TV. Both TV and VCR/DVD have the RCA jacks for setup you mention, however I don't have the necessary cables right now to rig up my VCR & TV this way. Also, I've been using the RG-6 cable to run back outside my house then back inside where my computer is, doubling as my internet connection. I guess the movie would play on my monitor if I moved the VCR here to my computer instead of watching it on the TV as I copied it to my hard drive.

I'll download the info on my TV card and check the setup.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Cheers,
Ric

When the TV gets its feed from the 'RF Out' connector of the VCR (I assume channel 3) the audio is ok?

The same output to the PC card - when captured - has only part of the audio?

While the capture is operating, is the video/audio shown on the PC monitor.
