Last DVD i just tried was The Dark knight, lots of problems but finally worked with dvdFat5 and then dvd shrink.

DVD shrink has read sector errors at 49% of the dvd for this... dvdfab5 has similar problems, dvd decrypter has the same errors midway through, sucks.

It takes 20+ minutes before you find out if its working correct or not. This one has stumped me, i havnt found anything that works, and nothing listed online for its oddball structure protection, if thats what it is.

dvdfab gets to 49.83% and basically stops on vts?01?4.vob

It runs fine around 4-6mb per second, until it hits this point, the mb/s just nosedive until its around 0.02 or something and just doesnt write anything, i believe its just reading the dvd constantly yet not able to transfer anything.

DVD decrypter had 6249 retries on one sector, even though i had it ignoring sectors, it spent 9hrs on it last night and didnt get anything accomplished.

Try cleaning the disc and your laser lens. Then try DVDFab. If it fails, you may have a bad press. Exchange it. I had no problems with this one.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I'd say bad press or disc with dirt or scratches.

If the version of DVD Fab that you used on The Dark Knight truly worked, then RE5 should be no problem.

yeah, i tried just the main movie portion, gets to 73.28% then stops, i try to ignore the read error, but since it appears its in the dead of the movie picture.. it knows it cant skip it and continue normally, so it just sits there and retrys.

Did you clean your lens as suggested earlier? You may have the dreaded bad press. Exchange for a new copy and try again. This one posed no problems for me either.

Copy protection will be at the beginning of the PGC. Not in the middle.

You should try using ANYDVD + CLONEDVD and you WILL have success. I ripped Degeneration long before it came out with older versions of anydvd and clonedvd with no problems whatsoever.

Cheers!

My two cents is "Sometimes Opinions are Best Left Inside".
