I have a 5 year old ps2 slim model scph-70012. It has been taking longer and longer to load discs. Then it stopped reading discs. I opened it up and tried cleaning the laser. This did not help. The disc would spin a couple times and the laser would move and try to focus. So I decided it was time for a new laser. I ordered on off ebay. When it arrived I removed the anti-static solder ball and installed it. When I try to load a disc the disc spins and I can see the laser moving up and down trying to focus I can also see the laser assembly moving forward and back on the rails but the disc will not load. It will do this for 6 to 7 min then say "disc can not be read". Although the disc is spinning it does not appear to be spinning fast enough. Does this mean that the spindle motor is bad? Did I buy a bad laser? Sorry for the long post just wanted give as much info as possible
