Hi my xbox 360 dvd drive has started playing up, so i ordered a new one from logic toy, they sent me a refurbished one, i thought all i had to do is open the xbox up and swap it like you do i a pc, if only life was so simple.

Anyway the drive in my xbox is hitatchi 3120l febuary 47, the one they sent me was a refurbished hitatchi 3120l march 47.

What is the best way to swap them over, i have never done this before should i flash the drives or swap parts over, if someone could explain how to or show me a guide on the internet on either options would be great.

I havent tried just swappinng them over yet

swap the pcb board from the old drive to the new drive. as long as the old drive itself was the problem and not the baord, you should be good.

Hello i have just tried swapping the pcb over it still has the same problem? When i put halo 3 or pgr4 in it says play dvd instead of play game?

Could it be the pcb thats the problem? should i try flashing it instead?

If the PCB board swap didn't work, you will need to extract the DVD-key from the original Hitachi and inject it into the new Hitachi.
