hiya
i have a benq drive that wont eject unless i take the lid off the drive it plays discs perfectly if i lay the lid on the drive and apply a bit of pressure on the top as does the liteon drive.
why is it my 59dj hitachi has played discs flawlessly for 3 years and i cant a benq or liteon to last a year .

perhaps the lid needs to be tightened? that is just a guess.

my liteon lasted 5 months before it couldn't read dvd's and some games. and that was my 3rd 360.

i have gotten 2 years from one of my benq's and still working fine, and I have two liteons with just about 6 months on them also without problems... @op.. not sure, completely disassemble it and check everything.

i have had them apart if i put the lid on it doesn't eject if i take it off it does they just seem to die a bit too premature for my liking lol...

I'm not for sure what the issues are with your BenQ and Lite-ON. I haven't had any problems with mine and I actually prefer BenQ and Lite-ON over Samsung and Hitachi. When you put the lid on, and try to eject the drive.. does it make any kind of attempt or noise at ejecting?

its been a while since I had a benq disassembled, refresh my memory... what retains the disc to the spindle? a magnet? if so make sure it is not dislodged. next question.. if you put a disc in with the lid on and close the tray will it eject?

if i put the disc in with the lid on to start with it won't eject.it doesn't matter as i have purchased a new liteon it's just i have a 2006 model 360 with a 59dj in it and it just doesn't fail as does my sons 78fk i have had samsungs that get stuck and benq and liteons that fail after 6 months i thought the idea saw to make things better as time goes on ...lol

when i eject it i can see it making an effort but the cd draw moves about 2mm forward and then goes back in but if i take the lid off it will eject i wondered if it could have something to do with the plastic bit in the lid as they do move about a lot.
