I was wondering if the old ipod connectors have a different pin configuration compared to the new models. For instance items such as an Itrip (that were made for ipods prior to the new 4th gen nanos or Iphone/touch) work per se but dont charge the unit which is not so bad but Im one of those people that would prefer the two. I purchased the Itrip and didnt particularly realize it didnt function properly with my current ipod thus, is it just the plug it self or is there some sort of circuitry that needs to be added on in order to make this modification happen? I ask because I have several ipod cables and wondered if the main difference lies in the plug or what particularly that the itrip just cant seem to add the feature of charging the unit while supporting the playback.

Thanks for any input.

yea the new ipod touch and nanos have a different configuration, the itrip will work normal but it will not charge, that's the only set back. everything else should work the same. Good Luck

Well what is different just the connector? is there a way to change that connector so the unit can charge while being plugged in? Because I dont understand what is it that changed particularly between the gen's of ipods.
