I can't seem to download the .torrent hash file from a particular torrent site that I belong to. I can download from other torrent sites but not this particular one? Strange and bizarre!
The webmaster has said that something on my computer must be blocking the download?
I've never experienced this problem before. Any suggestions or recommendations. May be I've missed something?!
I'm using Firefox of IE7, I've cleared my cache, etc.
There are some firewalls and internet filters that disallow the download of torrent files. Do you have the option to download the file in a .TXT format? If so, download the file and change the file extension to .torrent (for example) and then open the file with your torrent client. Hope this helps.
I assume you have had a look see in the firewall settings in your A/Virus software or other?
I had a quick search through Mozilla and even though you have completed the first steps (clearing cache etc) there is more info for re-setting the download manager in Firefox. You have probably already had a look, but just in case you haven't here's the link for how to reset a few items for download troubles.
Your A/V and FF are the only two possibilities that I can think of, being as all other hash files come through a-ok. Something is being "disallowed" somewhere along the line, and it will take some crafty digging to find it.
Keep us posted eh?
Cheers.
EDIT: Just a thought with concerns to your other thread on PG2... has this occurred before or after you installed that P2P app?
Thanks again for the input. I know it is the strangest thing! I've checked all settings in Firefox and IE7 and I really can't see anything that needs to be adjusted?
To avoid the download manager(s) I have (Orbit and NetTransport) used the right-click option. It didn't work for IE7 at all -- just kept getting error messsages. However, I was finally able to use it in Firefox. I even cleaned out my "prefetch" just in case something was there! It appears to be only this one "torrent site" which requires membership!
I have Trend Micro PC-cillin and it has never given me any problems before and I'm not seeing any messages from it. Also on low setting.
I haven't installed the PG2/Block List Manager yet. Happened to come across thread while looking for answers to my question(s).
