Hi, i tried asking this question on xbox-scene but no one seems to know what's going on.
I have a samsung drive flashed with 1.51 ixtreme. My backups of originals are burned by an lg external burner with verbatim dl dvd's at 2.4 x with imgburn.
From a cold start my 360 will recognize a backup right on the money. If i play it for like 5 minutes and decide to swap it with another backup, the dash will say "open tray". If i eject it multiple times, then it'll finally boot, but the longer the 360 is on, the more the drive has trouble recognizing when there's a disc in the drive. However all my originals work flawlessly, no matter how much i swap or how long the 360 in on.
Someone on xbox scene said that the dye begins to darken on backups when they get heated by the console, and that's why the laser starts to have trouble reading them. I don't know if that's plausible but...
The kid who flashed it for me said that the same thing happened with his backups when testing my console after flashing. He thinks the laser is just weak and if i buy a new one the problem will go away. I just want to fix this annoying problem, so can someone tell me what to do to fix this? Anything will be appreciated;)
I also tried to remedy this by:
POT Tweak
Rubberband track trick
Cleaning the laser
i would say buy another drive or laser,
i had the same problem then i switched the laser which worked for a bit but then i switched the drive and has been running good since

I know...i just googled this for about an hour and it seems that if the pot tweak doesn't do anything then last resort is a laser or new unit. I gonna buy a new ts then swap the flashed pcb board into the new drive,
If i still get opened tray errors with the new drive i'm just packing everything up and selling it on ebay. This is ridiculous.
The 360 is proving to be a bigger piece of junk than the original Nes.
Replacing your laser, or better yet, replacing your drive will solve your problem. Original dvd's are machine pressed, and much easier to read by the laser than "burned dvd's".
The new sammy is ordered from ebay and should be here by the latest friday. I would of ordered just the laser but for 10 beans more i got the whole spankin new drive.
