it doesn't really matter since all the firmwares can do that and for ctf themes you just need the cxmb plugin for that firmware and the right .ctf themes for that firmware but in my opinion the best firmware is always the latest since it only gets better and all homebrew and plugins are updated to work with them and have more features or atleast theme wise they look a lot better on 5.00

to be completely honest i kinda hate questions like this because it doesn't make sense to me why people stay on lower firmwares and then never learn how to upgrade their firmware because eventually your going to have to if you plan on playing new releases of umd games that require and higher firmware plus if you like psp for the homebrew plugins or playstation one games then its still a good idea to upgrade to the latest because they are updated to worh and run better with more features so it all depends how lazy you are or content with outdated and possibly buggy plugins and homebrew.

I'm not much of a PSP player. I like to play all the NES, SNES, Genesis, Capcom games on my PSP. I'm quite happy.
I can play some of the new PSP games that I downloaded to my memory stick with no problem...I'm just satisfied right now.
