Hi, i have a benq dvd drive flashed with ixtreme 1.5 and i have been using verbatims ever since i flashed because i heard that memorex dvds sometimes get the dirty disc or whatever...Then my cousin one day wanted me to flash his, so i did. Then his step dads friend gave him a few games(memorex) and they played perfectly fine. Then a couple days later he gave him 5 more games all memorex and they also play fine!By the way he has a benq also, so is this why they are playing is because we both have benqs? Because i have read a few forums and people who say memorex wont play are people with samsung or hitachi, not benq. So is it just luck that you have a good burn? The dvd burner your using or is it the dvd drive you have for your xbox? Because from what i have seen and experienced with is that memorex are fine when playing xbox 360 games.

verbatim is used because it has yielded the highest success rate. you can use whatever you want to. some have had luck with tdk, memorex, etc. I use verbatim and ridata. I have found benq and liteon read just about everything. all of the reasons you stated in you original post contribute to success. I read somewhere that one of the leading contributors to the success of verbatim's made in singaporte is the "dye" used in manufacturing. There is probally more to it as well. Check this out:

Other discs work fine however cheaper discs deteriate more quickly which i have found out from doing dvd backups for the past 6 years. So that is why i use Taiyo Yuden, and for my wii backups i use Verbatim with Taiyo Yuden Dye. Also cheaper discs that use cheaper dye make the lazer on the drive work harder which can stress it and wear it out.
