hi i downloaded movie iso's and img files off of newsgroup,i noticed each is missing a couple of minutes near the end of the movie, heres what i tried so far.mounted the iso with daemon tools and played with powerdvd8 and vlc player.i played with xbox xbmc,i did all those things and movie just stops near the end,my other movies which are in vob files ripped with dvddecryptor work fine, any ideas on what is causing this? this only happens with iso or img files

it's probably how they have been ripped.. lots of stuff on newsgroups is incomplete (and as recently reported drm tagged on one frame)

A large amount of stuff I see people pay to access on newsgroups is just garbage.. it's a real case of downloader beware. .. we distribute our spambot malware through mp3 files on newsgroups XD

I get mine from reputable places where downloaders are allowed to comment on quality etc.

There is a site called vcd-quality, which I don't use.. but it supposedly gives lists of the reported quality (or otherwise) of all the latest "scene" releases.

Finally.. if the films are cams.. they are never complete.. because people want to get out with their camera in the first rush from the theater instead of suspiciously staying to the end of the titles. If you are lucky you get the start.. but the end is pretty unknown unless it's from the east where I suspect the cinema owners are in on the deal.

Then more info is needed.. is it just the end titles missing or a chunk of the end of the film?

If they come as iso< have you tried running them in vlc?.. that will give you (or usually does) a total running time.

Hard to say without actually seeing the files..
