Backup Launcher/Modchip?

First off Hello Everyone nice to be here
It's my first time here, hope I'm in the right place?
Can you tell me if a Backup Launcher for the Wii is the same as what is called a modchip?
I have copied an ISO file to a DVD and it hasnt worked could anyone advise me on this please or point me in the right direction as how to do a dvd to so it will play on this Backup Launcher

Backup launcher = Homebrew program to play backup games without a modchip.

Modchip = A chip physically soldered to the wii's DVD drive that lets it play backup games.

I have used the Backup Launcher with a disk from the person who I got the Backup Launcher from (at a charge)what I want to do is my own DVD disks how do I make dvd's play on the Backup Launcher as I said the one I have dosen't wont work, what do I need or how do I go about getting it to work on this please? Thanks again for teh quck response
