I opened my wii, and I have GC2-D2B modchip, so if I want to upgrade my modchip firmware then how can I know that what firmware is my modchip currently have??

Or I just can download wiikey and update my modchip firmware? will it have any problems if my modchip is wiifree or others??

GC2-D2B isnt a modchip, its your wii's chipset. The modchip should be attached to or near that D2B chip.

The best way to tell what modchip you have is to post a picture of it on here. Someone will be able to ID it for you.

Failing that, you can attempt to run the 1.9s wiikey firmware update. If you have a wiikey it will work, if not then it wont work but it wont break anything either.

Theres no straightforward way to tell what firmware the modchip is on. If it is a wiikey and you are having trouble with some specific games then we could figure it out that way.

Stuff like this scares me.

Go ahead and chalk it up to being new like multiple other people do. But really there is no excuse with all the knowledge that is out there. Not only on this site but multiple other sites.
