Firstly, for those that read this particular thread, I would like to state I believe it is the easiest to understand for moderate PC users like myself, when it comes to researching info about BDtranscoding. That's why I joined: to say thanks. Especially to some of the more technically conversant respondents here.
Now, I have only have an Intel Duo 2 Core E4600 CPU HTPC which runs my lounge entertainment. This obviously has the downside of requiring more time to run some of Ryu77's profiles (the're awesome: cheers for your efforts).
Because of the original lower quality comparison to the new movies -I'm not talking about ones filmed on digital cameras compared to those of film: already read about those debates & how film is far superior. I mean the difference from the film & camera technology from the 1960s-1990s, as opposed to those from the 1990s-now.
My question: is it worth the extra 10+ hours to transcode, say, the older movies, Blazing Saddles or Life Of Brian, which were filmed in MPEG2 format to 1080P? Or is the resultant quality not THAT superior that it's worth the extra time? Or should I just go the 720P route with a higher denoise filter.
I use AnyDVDHD+TSMuxer+MeGUI&EAC3TO to complete my transcodes. Thanks.
