Hi everyone,

This is a little funny, I was updating my firmware on my samsung drive to 1.51 but I selected my dvd drive instead and when it was erasing it said erase failed and now the drive does not work anymore.

Does anymore have any ideas on how to fix my dvd drive?

I would check what brand your dvd burner is go to thier website and
download the newest firmware for it and try to flash it.

yea thats pretty much your only option is to restore the fw with something from the manufacture if that doesnt work you might be screwed

When it said "Erasing Drive" did you interupt it or let it finish? The worst case scenario is if you interutpted it while flashing/erasing then you could have corrupted the flash chip. If flashing the firmware doesn't work you must contact the support team from the manufacturer of the drive and ask them if they have a "bad flash" recovery utility.

I didn't interrupt it while it was erasing. My drive is a BTC DRW1004IM.
I found the this http://www.btc.com.tw/english/3-1-4driver_download_dvd_dual.htm. I downloaded the firmware update for my drive, but the program asks for the drive letter but because the firmware is not working on the drive it has no drive letter in windows.
Does this mean I have to contact them and ask for a bad flash recovery utility?

what I would do is tell them you were flashing it with their flash utility and it failed now cannot be recognized in windows. Let them suggest trying a "bad flash" recovery....

.. I was once updating the firmware on a router and it hung up... after nearly 35 minutes I unplugged the thing and tried again. When on the phone with tech support I told them that and they said "well we cannot support your efforts as you unplugged the router during an update, warranty voided."
