Hitachi drive freezes windows upon power on!

Aaaaand I'm back again. I've been here so far to recover a benQ and to understand flashing a lite on drive better. It's safe to say I can flash every single drive now as I have done MANY benq's, a lite on and a samsung. My only problem now is the Hitachi drive.

I got this brought to me and it's seemingly a very early 360 as the mfr date is 2005!

Anyway, I have Port IO drivers installed and everything has been smooth with all the drives now (aside from some bumps that were just procedural errors but were easily recovered) until this thing.

Not much else to say except that when I power the drive windows just freezes. It'll operate after about 7 or 8 seconds but in just another few seconds it locks up again then operates then locks, rinse and repeat.

During the short moments of operation I was able to bring up Jungle Flasher and at least see if I can get it into modeB or something but it's just not working with all the freezing. As soon as I shut off the drive windows resumes as normal.

I tried powering the drive with the xtractor too to see if that would change anything but, nope.

Any help would be awesome.

are you ejecting the tray and closing the tray while windows loads. I open and close it prolly 15 times while loading, wait until everything is completely up and running on the pc then i go to do what i wanted to do. hope this helps. C

I had the same problem with my friends Hitachi 47d. Are you using a PCI Sata card? If so try deleting the drivers, I did this and no more freezes. The JF tutorial tells you how to remove the drivers, the name of the drivers and where they are located.

I had the same problem when I flashed my drive with jungle flasher, just give it a couple minutes for the pc to work the problem out and it'll work just fine. Its also gonna be slow when you flash it, mine took like 10-15 minutes to upgrade to ixtreme 1.51.
