well my HDMIxbox started flashing with 1 red light error code 74, i have done the xclamp fix and yes it did fix it for a day and again it happened. I just need to know if any one has sent back their xbox even lough it has been tampered with? what would most likely happen if i was to send it back? would there be a fee charge to fix it?
any comments on this and i would be very greatful!
well if you did the x-clamp fix im sure they'll notice that, and unless you removed the warranty sticker without leaving residue behind and saved it, you could remove the x-clamp fix put the warranty sticker back on and send it on, although if there's evidence of it being opened, they'll most likely be able to tell, im pretty sure they'll fix it but yeah they'll charge you and for the price that they'll charge your better of just buying a new one. iv'e never actually sent one back this is just my best guess, i did try to send an original xbox back once that was modded and they said the would fix it i don't remember how much they said but it was way too much.
aswell i forgot to mention i have sprayed the case black and still is under warranty! warrenty sticker was slicked through the middle with a stanley knife so first impressions would look like in tact but with the sprayed case concerend im screwed there.
oh well that changes the whole situation theres not a chance at all that they'll take it back regardless if you have a warranty, painting it counts as modifying, and even if it wasn't painted they would be able to tell that you cut it, so yeah your pretty much screwed, either find a repair shop that fixes xbox 360's or buy a new one.
i usually make a wall with paper so the gpu gets absolutely no air flow and the cpu gets cooled. This will in turn heat the hana/ana chip and the weight will help hold the chip down to the board.
Anyway i've fixed about 12 e74 errors using this method so i know it works.
like you say it is the warm air flowing over the ana/hana chip that seems to be causing this! I will try the method of forcing it down some how and let you know how i get on!
