MTU Error (Please Help)

My brother is trying to connect to Xbox Live with his 360. He is stationed in Kuwait and is using a wireless "hotspot". Qualitynet is the name of the ISP that he is using. He has no access to the modem or the router that is used to connect him to the internet.

He has his wireless adapter plugged in and he goes to test his connection. Everything goes through until the MTU part and it always fails. Is there anything he can do at this point to fix this problem? He says that a friend of his was on Live before, but has since been stationed somewhere else so he has no idea how he got around this problem.

He already knows about the error code and what it means, and all that Microsoft support could do is reread the error that he was looking at on his screen, thus giving no help at all.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

From the diagnostics screen, what is it showing as his MTU size? 0 or 1?

Without going into the whole spiel that you probably already know regarding the MTU check, it's simply to check that it qualifys for the minimum size of 1360 something rather.

Possible issue could be IT personnel swapped out the old router (which his friend was able to play on) and the new one either requires a FW update or the ISP that is being used down there made changes to the MTU settings.

Unfortunately, MTU issues usually require you to check the other equipment such as the router and further a modem (being a Military base I doubt it's just a modem so possibly from the router to another firewall type of deal).

How do you get to the diagnostics screen? And is that on the Xbox or the Laptop he is using?
