i want a 360 but i can only get the core system is that a good idea or a waste of time

All depending. I have a core system with 256MB memory card and it does me fine, there plenty of space for my save games etc. I don't need to download any demos or owt as I just download the game.

If you are not going to mod the xbox drive FW, i would recommend getting a hard drive tho.

I would definitely recommend getting one with a hard drive because installing games to it speeds up the load times and reduces the noise made from the DVD drive considerably. Also, there will be less stress on the drive then.

Good Point. If you don't have the funds to get one now, you could always look at getting the core and buying a xbox separately.

I think you mean get the core and buy the hard drive later.
