ok to make it short and sweet every time i try to load a firmware in either iprep or xtreme bootmaker i get an error, with iprep its says an unhandled exception has occured and on the title it says microsoft frame work. with xtreme bootmaker it says import failed.
i have tried several versions of both of these programs.
i dont know if it makes a difference but i have a benq drive
my microsoft frameworks is version 3.x and my sata connection in on my computers mobo
What OS are you running? I recomend XP i never have problems with it....i had a few bugs using iPrep with Vista. Also try re-installing the microsoft .NET framework and try getting the FW from Xbins (and get iPrep from there).
lucky for you i have a few answers that you may or may not be aware that you need.
the benq drive will not be flashed with iprep, it cannot. i went through the same thing you are now and learned to use jungle flasher instead. it is easier anyway, as you get to use windows to do it.
make sure you have the right firmware. iextreme is what you need, but you also need the right one for your drive...it should say benq in the title. like waxydead says, get it from xbins.
check your satachipset by going to my computer, properties, device manager, and then look at "storage controllers" or something with "controllers" in it, and confirm what chipset you have. if you have anything other than VIA6421, you need to buy a pci card with that chipset. check out newegg for this. 'tis what i and practically everyone else had to do. it's about 20 bucks.
follow the jungle flasher directions for the benq drive to a T. make sure to install everything jungle flasher says to at the beginning of the instructions.

I disagree.
Me too, i've flashed drives using iPrep before that are BenQs...i figured maybe it was a bug in the new iPrep which was why he said that but i guess not.
