I had this question a while back but never asked because my drives all worked. Now I am going to flash my hitachi drive up to the new 1.51 and would like to know is there a way to see what firmware is currently loaded or when the flash is finished because it never seems to give a definitive answer.

The reason why I am asking is because I just flashed my drive or atleast I thought I did and come to find out that my firmware never changed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I thought I would upload a pic with my two firmwares in place and ready to spoof. I have tried flashing it 3 times and it still is the same 1.4 8x firmware. Is it just me or is this a problem for alot of people.

Hope the pic helps.

in the pic all you have done is prepared the target to flash back to original. You havent' flashed anything in that picture. That's why you never know when it is finished because it never even started.

Well I guess thanks to toolbox 48 I now have a bricked drive. it froze up in the middle of flashing and now it won't respond and the center of the 360 lights flashes like its in mode b. I guess it is time to experiment and try to bring back from the dead. Anyone have any good ways to try this. Also if you are wondering why I tried the toolbox over jungleflasher is because it kept telling me to turn it off and then back on which would take me out of mode b everytime. So now I have a brick. I think I will tear it apart and see what i can find.

Well i did some tests and may have comeacross an idea. It seems to me that the 360 cuts power to the drive because it does not recognize the firmware. Which i am guessing why you need the connectivity kit to try and bring it back. Does this seem like the cause to it not responding? I would think that it would atleast respond with somesort of powering on but it does not. So to me it is because it has something to do with the 360. the difference is the blinking started before I had even had the sat cable plugged back in to the drive from the xbox. Is there information sent to the drive from the box throught the ppower connector? If so how? I just had some questions that i hope someone has answers for. Thanks in advance.

well I can't quite answer all your questions but I can tell you that no analog information is shared from the xbox motherboard to the drive via the power cable. All "comm" takes place over the sata cable.
I was unaware that the drive gets powered down if the xbox doesn't recognize it. I think what is happening is the whole xbox is going back to stand by after a few minutes of not knowing what drive is connected.

If all comm is via the sata cable then why does the xbox blink when the sata cable is plugged into my pc? That is the only reason why I think that. I guess I need a connectivity kit. Where is the best place to get one?

the green light blinks cuz it has no dvd drive, its connected to your pc. it is the beginning of general hardware failure. which in your case is false cuz its just that you have the drive plugged into your pc.

you can buy that if you want to. its an older version and you are stuck using native serial comm port. with ck3 (version three) you could use usb to serial to access serial data on virgin liteons. Another 15 bucks for the spear. I personally use this http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/360x...ment-fuses.html plus the spear. Total investment= $55 us.

what do you mean by spear? This will be yet another adventure into uncharted waters for me. Does anyone know of a tutorial for using the connectivity kit?
