How to tell if wii clip is working?

I just installed my wii clip and closed my unit up again. It still runs original games, and I know that I installed the right type of wii clip.

My question is, as my wii won't run my backup of super mario galaxy, how can I tell if the problem is a faulty wii clip vs. poor media/burner? I don't want to spend the money replacing my burner if a faulty chip is to blame.

Haha. I just realized that I made a complete newbie mistake and burned a PAL game on an NTSC machine... so that is most likely the problem!
