Some backups freeze at first loading screen/wii patcher - patch to 249 ?

one is i have burnt several backups and they have all worked but the last few that i have tried i have had mixed results such as final fantasy worked without a problem, but madden 09 and don king boxing, and call of duty world at war will get to the first loading screen and freeze then i get read disc error or something like that anyone know what may be causing this. please help

and the next question is the wii patcher i know that you are supposed to patch them to 249 but how do i know that is the cios that i am running cause i ran madden and don king throught it and they don't work but final fantasy did and i ran it though it to and a three have been ran through the brickblocker so i am lost someone please help
