We need more information.
Describe your ripping process.
The name of the DVD.
The exact error message.

Hi Thanks for replying. The film is cars, i used dvd decrypter, clicked on mode-selected file- input the source - created destination folder- then clicked on the green arrow. when DVD Decrypter had finished i opened up DVDShrink clicked on open files, a window opened up to select the folder i needed clicked on the folder then clicked OK
Within 3 seconds an error message appeared saying- DVDShrink encoutered an error and cannot continue, failed to open file D/Cars/Video_TS.IFO The system cannot find the file specified.
Hope this helps!
Cheers

For this movie, use DVDFab HD Decrypter (free).

DVDFab will do Cars. Then you can use DVD Shrink to do whatever you want. When your files are ready and they play the way you want, use ImgBurn to burn the files to a blank disc.

As per dialysis1/rtm27 this movie (and all other movies) simply needs DVDFab if DVD Shrink is unable to cope. In this case DVDFab is definitely needed. We have at least a dozen threads on this movie and those threads were from before we started allowing only one thread for each movie, so i'll leave this one open. I can't believe it's approx 3 years since i watched this (excellent) movie at the cinema, i can remember it like it was yesterday, how times flies :).
In future just go looking for DVDFab updates next time you hit a movie that gives you trouble, updates are released fairly frequently.

Hi there,

apologies if this was discussed before. But I have slight problems with the cars DVD as well. I am using DVDFab 6.0.2.2 to rip it. I want to copy it to the HD of my HTPC (mythtv). And it almost works. But there is at least one moment, when it doesn't.

When watching the ripped VOB with VLC or mplayer, about 1:10 into the main movie there is some kind of flicker. It it the moment, when McQueen leaves the truck and passes the camera. That flicker isn't there when I play the DVD using an older version of PowerDVD. It is also not there, when I play the ripped VOB with PowerDVD.

What I also noticed is that in PowerDVD the menu shows two viewing angles, but Angle2 is selected and can not be changed.

In DVDFab I can select either angle for ripping and when looking at the preview window there is another oddity: When lightning passes the camera the signature over his door is either just "McQueen" or "Lightning McQeen" depending on which viewing angle is selected.

Does anybody know what all of this means?...

Thanks, Tom

If DVDFab6 doesn't work, use DVDFab5, have always worked for me where Fab6 for some reason refused.

Sorry for the double posts...I see where your problem is, for one; if DVD Decryptor ripped it, then you are good to go...
Select: C/files, NOT D/files. Your file has been stored in the destination file under your 'C' drive (example: CARS_WS or CARS_169, etc.) . If you select 'D', you are simply opening a blank file from an empty drive - which is your DVD Burner, and assuming the disc has been removed.

@PCH_Dude

Thanks for the advice, DVDFab5 did the job. This is excellent! I tried so many different programs. Nothing else worked. No more kids hands scatching Mr McQueens ventures. Hurray!

Oh no! I was too fast there (you could say I was stupid). Because I checked the result with PowerDVD, not with vlc. And with vlc it still has the flickering issue. Oh well, most of the movie is OK, I guess I have to live with it...
