first off i want to say hi to everyone as im new here though i have come here before just not registered :), i have a fat ps2 no network adapter or hdd yet but am trying to do the swaptrick with gameshark 2 v1.3 but for some reason it wont work, when i swap the discs it just sits at reading disc, no my question is this, could this be caused by how when i hit start game and then without codes, gs opens the cd tray?
also im not sure what version ps2 i have but will take a look when i get the chance
That is exactly your problem, you need to swap the disc out without the ps2 'knowing' about it, which is where the slide card trick comes into play. Is there an option in the GS settings to turn 'eject tray off' or something similar?

ok just checked and there is no such option i guess im outta luck, unless theres a way i will keep searching and hope for more replys
