Hi. Lol.
Ive checked many different forums and some people say that if you format Wii system memory, the firmware version will revert back to when the Wii was manufactured. Is this true, and when you do this, do your Miis get deleted?

That is totally in-correct..formating Wii does not revert back firmware (4.0 to 3.2)it will just delete the custom channel you added excluding the factory default. If you have custom menu (softmii) and HBC and format that can result brick wii..
