I just bought a sony DAV-DZ280 home theatre system and can not get a sound signal out of the speakers. It works fine with everything else just not the 360.The only time I can get sound is if I connect the 360 to the tv via scart and coaxial ports instead of using my hdmi lead.Any help with this guys+galls. Is really annoying me at the moment.
Cheers.
Dave.

Looks to me like you're connecting the 360 with HDMI to the HDMI output from that reciever. I checked the specs and while I'm in the US and not familiar with SCART, it seems that package has only a HDMI output. Hook up the 360 with scart and run a optical cable from the 360 to the optical input on the reciever... then run the HDMI cable from the reciever to your TV.

I am not connecting the 360 to the reciever at all.The 360 is connected to the tv via hdmi and tv to reciever via scart as instructed in the user manual. Also the reciever does not have optical output on it.Any other ideas.
Cheers.

Ok, what you need to do is connect 360 to TV via HDMI...from there you should connect TV to Receiver via TV output (sound) to Receiver input (sound). All should be RCA cables.

I hope your TV has the sound output.

it doesn't need an optical output... it needs to have an optical input.

you'll only be able to get surround sound from your 360 if your receiver has an optical or hdmi input.

this may take a little work but what inputs/outputs does your tv and receiver have? this'll help others try to help you out.

It appears it doesn't have an optical input after googling the setup. So if I was the op I would return the unit and buy one that has the necessary inputs. As stated above you at least need a unit with a optical input or hdmi input.

If you can get a unit with two hdmi inputs a couple component inputs. You also want to make sure it has an hdmi output and at least on component output. This way you have the same signal quality coming to the tv as it left the console or whatever else is hooked up to your surround sound.

Hi,
If your LG TV is anything like mine then you will be able to get sound through the DAV by using the Red, White, Yellow leads to connect to the TV (either in AV3 or by using a Scart adapter) instead of the HDMI cable. You will lose picture quality, but gain the sound...your choice!

Couldn't he just use a hdmi cable, then run a seperate composite cable to run the sound. Just ring up lg, they will know what to do.
