After the trial period ran out I decided to purchase DVDFab 5 platinum. Now that I've already spent my cash, this program that has worked pretty good up until now, will not back up my movies. I've tried to back up 3 movies, "Changeling", "Wall-E", and "Death Race". All three movies keep giving me a CSS protection error and then it refers me to their CSS department. How do I get beyond this error. As I said this program use to work fine for me. I don't know what's up now. I need help to solve this problem.

There are 2 versions of DVDFab. You have the wrong one.
Where did you download it from?

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

What? I have the wrong one. I hope not because I paid $40 bucks on some stuff that doesn't work. Why would there be 2 versions with the same name and look the same but not work. I don't want it. Can I get my money back? Help, give me some direction please.

CSS Version at dvdfav.com
Non-CSS Version at dvdfav.net

I?m enjoying free version (as I do not need movile options etc.) time to time, so never purchased. I?m just curious and little confused?
If you downloaded, tested out for trial period and decided to purchase as it worked well for you. All you needed to do is to enter the license key, which you obtained by purchasing, isn?t it? Its function should not change just by entering the license key. Have you re-downloaded and reinstalled?

I?m not certain, though the license key might work for both versions. If not, you need to contact them.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I figured it out that I had downloaded the wrong version, it was the non css version. It's no good but now I have the right one and everything appears to be good now.

Thanks

Is your version of dvdfab updated to the latest version (6.0.4.0)?

Did you download it from this site?

http://dvdfab.com/free.htm

If you did and that message pops up, you should be able to just use the regular version without it expiring, and have 30 days to tryout the other options if you want to. The trial version only begins when you start to use the other options.

That's the way it worked up until version 6 - anything from v6.0 and up now only allows the 30-day trial for copying regular DVDs.

He had previously renamed it DVD Fab HD Decrypter -- since v6.0 only HD DVD copying is free (works as above) -- regular DVDs now can only be copied under the 30-day trial provision.

Read all the details on the support forum (CD Freaks) - the link is on the DVD Fab site given above.

That is incorrect. The free version be it v.5 or v.6.x.x.x, does not expire and will continue to copy your regular dvds just fine even after 30 days, just as rtm27 stated.

I went thru over 40 pages ac CDFreaks, and can find no mention of dvdfab no longer having a free version. Post a link to the page and to the comment telling us it's no longer free.

I went as well, just to double check myself, although I KNOW it works as that as what I am currently using. Just wanted to be sure that it hadn't been posted erroneously there, I can't find it anywhere.

Only thing I could find was a mention in one of the dvdfab 6 threads about Nero cd/dvd scan no longer being free. That was about it.
