I want to learn how to get the film from my hard drive onto a DVD-R
Is there anyone out there that would be kind enough to give me a step by step idiot?s guide.
I have Nero 6, I have DVD X Copy Platinum, and I have Sonic My DVD which came with the hardware, but still can?t fathom this one out.
I saw that someone said to Shrink so I downloaded that as well but still no joy - what am I doing wrong, which important bits am I missing????
HELP please someone be my knight in shining!!

Hi bubblie
Ok your post is missing some info, you downloaded some movies off the net so im assuming you have avi's(divx, xvid etc.)And you either have a dvd burner, or just one dvdrw. he he
The more info you post the easier it is for us to help you. What you need is to convert the avi's to mpeg2's.The method i use is this.. http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=othertodvd&name=tmpegenc very time consuming but effective. You need authoring software.I use dvdauthor and this guide..http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=dvdauthor&name=tmpegencdvdauthor trial versions available for both.I use nero burning rom for all my burning needs, but thats just a matter of preference, heres a simple an pretty cool guide for burning using nero..http://www.dvdshrink.info/nero-video.php There are other programs available, you just need to look around.I hope this helps you.Keep us posted and come back anytime you have trouble.
good luck and welcome to the hood
jim

jim dandy, very right in the procedure and method only one problem
downloading movies is pirating and is not supported on this site
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487
i am sure it was a mere over-site on your part bubblie but dont allow it to happen again or you will probably be booted
thems the rules
next time it would be much more effective to just say you have a few DVDs in Avi/divx format etc and you want to watch them on your DVD player
for example to encode AVI etc to another format most people i know would suggest MainConcept Mpeg Encoder
a bit pricy but works.
there is a demo available

hi loner
I know that downloaded movies are against forum rules and ive told other people that post about that on here. The trouble is that when i tell them its wrong, other ppl comeback and help anyway. So i figured id do the helping and let you do the scolding lol
Im pretty new here myself so i dont like to overstep by bounds. Thanks loner, and mainconcept is a great encoder, very simple and fast too.
happy trails

Hi Jim Hi Dean
Firstly i can understand the rules of the Forum but we all live in the real world and realistically Dean are you telling me that you dont have anything illegal on your PC Nothing you have downloaded. Lets put it this way If Robbie Williams and now soon to be George Michael accepts and agrees with it, what is the problem with you.
i apologise if i have offended you but being a NOVICE surely can excuse a small error on my behalf like this rather than 4 entries being made with regard to the wrongs of my wording.
Jim may i thank you for taking the time out of your day to reply even if you did get a telling off which wasnt really necessary. I will look and see if I understand your response and get back to you if that OK, but then again after this reply Dean will probably boot me.
Suppose we will have to wait and see. Jim thanks for your welcome very much appreciated!!!
For ever thankful
Bubblie

hi bublie
it aint a case of what you, i or anybody else thinks is right or wrong.......the problem is what is law and what isn't.
if members here at afterdawn were seen to be condoning and encouraging piracy then the controling bodies would have the site closed down in no time at all.
if you are dealing in illegal material then that is your choice but is best not to broadcast it as it will put everybody in jepordy.
follow the guides you have been given and you'll be fine.
and welcome to the fold

It never ceases to amaze me how many people want to argue about the no-piracy rules. The rules seem pretty clear to me and make no exceptions for whether everybody actually does it or not :)
