If the files conform to the players requirements - just burn them as data files on a CD or DVD.
Most players won't play an avi with larger resolution than 720x576.

You can use the likes of ImgBurn.
Run Imgburn.
Click 'Write files/folders to disk' and drag the files onto the window.

I did what you advised, and when I play the movie on my dvd player the sound is not syncronized with the movie. yet when I play the movie on my PC sound and picture is syncronized. Anybody have any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

If possible burn the files separately to CD's and see if the problem goes away.
It may be that the DVD is being burned at too high a speed and/or not of a good quality.
Taiyo-Yuden or Verbatim DVD's, burned at half the maximum shown on the package is a good idea.
