I bought an LG GSA-E60N external drive yesterday, it didnt come with a disc, so i plug it in, windows automatically installs drivers, comes up in my computer, recognized by burning media, but when i put a disc in the icon doesn't change, and when i try and click it it says please insert disc. burning media says media not ready.
its asif the computer spots the drive but needs a driver for it to do anything, but says it has the driver and i cannot find the driver for it anywhere!
ive read about changing the firmware to the h55n but want a second opinion before i do anything. would this help? will it make any difference?
ive got the drive to do xbox 360 backups, i will be using verbatim dual layer dvd+r's

what do you mean by that? what program are you using to burn your DVDs?
You'll have to explain yourself better than just the quote above! What are you trying to do.... what program(s) are you using..... and what did you do that doesn't work? If the computer recognizes your drive then you should be able to burn a disk using the correct programs. If you have an old firmware to the drive and you know there is a newer firmware available.... then by all means update your firmware! It will give you better enhancements for your drive. but I don't think you have a hardware problem if Windows recognizes it!
