Hi, I'm new...lurked before but have just registered since this is the first time I haven't found an answer to my question in another post. Here's the issue...We have been backing up our DVDs for a long time using DVDFab 4 and DVD Shrink. We recently got a new computer that runs Vista. We are using the same programs and bought Nero 8 Essentials for the burning. The discs copy and play fine on the computer but when we try to play them on our DVD players we get 'disc is dirty' and 'cannot be read' errors on our two players. I thought it was the new burner drive and tried hooking up the old external drive to the new computer with the same results. I am not very computer savvy and have run out of ideas on what to try next. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

DVDFab 4 and DVD Shrink? Update software much? Oh wait, you got Vista... must be very old dvds you're backing up.

No, I don't update much. Why fix what's not broken? That was why I was posting to see if I could get some good advice.

I do not think ripping and compressing process are your problem, but burning process.
I assume the discs you burnt with your old PC and external drive can be played on your two DVD players.

What was the burning program you had on your old PC? Have you tried with new PC?
Try ImgBurn with new PC if you have not tried yet.

What is your burning speed? Did you change?

What is your media type and brand/MID? Did you change?
(Check your Booktype/Bitsetting if your are using +R)
