Hi, I have a PSP Slim 3000 running 3.71 firmware and I really want to play around and see what it?s capable of doing. I?m a complete noob to the whole homebrew scene but I am competent with PC?s etc. I?m into retro gaming so I want to unlock the psp so I can play multiple game formats, I own the original copies of literally hundreds of games from several consoles and pc?s going way back and I?d love to emulate them on the PSP. My machines include the good old Sinclair zx spectrum 128K, master system, megadrive, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube and of course the PSONE. From reading various sites I see that there are emulators for some if not all of these and I know I need a Pandora battery and magic memory stick to get started with the homebrew but my question is, how many firmware updates do I need to install? If my understanding is correct I need different versions to play different games, particularly for the PSONE games like the infamous FF7. I believe I can use popsloader to switch between firmware versions but what ones should I put on? I?m ok with ripping the actual games; just need to know what firmware versions to install. Thanks!
Blast! I thought that may be the case, I've read about the gripshift exploit and the Datel battery tool which no longer works when trying to put the 3000 into the service mode due to legalities with Sony. I just hoped things had moved on a bit. Ah well, looks like I'll just have to wait a bit longer. Thanks for the reply anyway.
