I'm new to this forum so I apologize if I'm posting this on the wrong board.

My normal process is to convert mkv files to vob using mkv2vob so that I can view them on my ps3. I'm having trouble fitting a few movies onto standard DVD5's...they're just a little too big. I think if I trim the credits off of these movies they will fit but I'm not sure how to do so. I've searched around a bit and can't really find a good tool for something like this. I read that I can use mkvtoolnix to do this but I'm not really sure how to do so.

Obviously, I'd like to trim these movies down without any loss of quality or resolution to the original file.

I also tried this freeware tool I found to trim down the converted vob file but the program didn't read the file right for some reason and outputted a 400kb file (lol).

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

MKVMerge GUI:
'Add' the .mkv source.
Click the 'Global' tab and 'Enable Splitting' and select '...after this duration'.
The format is HH:MM:SS.
Select an output path and name and new files will be created after you press: 'Start Muxing'.

AVIDeMux also handles MKV. Use 'Copy' for audio and video, 'MKV' for container.

Or, if your file is just a BIT too big for a DVD (like, say... 4.38 GB instead of 4.37) you can use MKVExtractGUI (also part of mkvtoolnix) to extract the audio, then use another program to convert the audio to a smaller bitrate, and remux it into the .mkv using MKVMerge.

I've done it a couple times, and this way, I at least get to keep the entire movie. You can try doing that if you think that'll help.
